First Field Trip....

Little late on all the posting but we now have wifi so I can use the internet without the wireless card!  Yahoo!  JF got it for us so I can use it for homeschooling and I'm so excited!  I need to put the filter on my computer that Sho posts about on her blog (Thanks Sho!).
Friday September 3rd was the first homeschool meeting in Wilson.  We didnt get to go due to rain and gas costs so instead we took a family field trip to River Park North!  It was so much fun.  We went in the nature center and looked around at the animals and exhibits.  There was a rattlesnake on display that got really angry with me and Chelsie and started rattling his little shakers and rared back to strike.  That was so neat!
Then we all rented fishing poles and went fishing.  That was a blast!  James threw his hook out and hollered...."Look everybody I caught a fishin worm!"  he was excited about that.  Oh yeah I almost forgot, in my goal to not eat fast food, we packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed that at the picnic area.  Back to fishing....we started fishing on a pier but then I quickly realized it was too many kiddos to close to really deep water so I moved everyone to the watersedge (by the boat ramp) and we fished there.  I loved it!  We all loved it!  Until......Travis was fishing by the pier and leaned over to cast out and there was a huge wasps nest under the edge and they swarmed him and he was stung 3 times poor baby.  You could hear him hollering for miles....!
After we took him the the office to be treated with a spray of some sort and benadryl we went walking on the trails.  It was a wonderful day, followed by coming home and grilling out as a family and then playing I spy, the kiddos new favorite game!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Julie was the only one to catch a fish!  We used worms and crickets for bait, but I'm sure when the fish heard the Pierce Family coming they ran!

Newness.....(is that a word?)

Today I made whole wheat cinnamon rolls...they were delish!  The kids ate them with icing but I ate mine plain, all 4 of them!
Then last night I had started defrosting a Turkey a 20 pounder he's huge!  JF had bought me a roaster so I dropped placed him in there with butter and pepper.  Oh my my my, its wonderful! I have to admit I was a little nervous this was my first whole turkey (Ive cooked little turkey breasts before) but it was easy!  I cooked it so we would have lunch meat that doesnt have nitrates and preservatives in yummo we all approve it was a good sandwich!  We'll also have some for dinner too with whole wheat rolls and other veggies.

I told James a little while ago, why was he so sweet and such a mess all at the same time and he looked up at me and said "because God made me like that"  Cuteness pure cuteness!

Growing up....

So my dear little Marie is growing up.
She turned 1 on July 10th and was just barely crawling at 11months old!  I told everyone she would be close to 15 months before she took her first steps.  Thats okay by me too....hehehe, she is number 6, I know what happens once they start walking!
Well this past Saturday night Aug. 28th she took her first little steps.  She walked 4 steps from papa to nana.  Evidentally she just wanted everyone to know she could walk whenever she wants to because she hasnt taken a step since!

New School year....

Well its time to drag out all the books and officially start our school work.
We've been schooling all summer with different things.....Bible, Manners, Cleaning, Cooking, and Etiquette but it's time to do the" readin writin rithmatic" type stuff......
Books are ready, supplies are ready, house is ready, desks are ready.......children are NOT ready....

Overheard today....
James and Travis were playing hide and go seek in the house....(yep I let them run and play in the house and I often do it to)  Travis was fussing at James for finding him too soon and James said "I counted to 12 I dont know that number 20!"

At family devotions....
JF was teaching on happiness and how a merry heart doeth good like medicine, Lillie in her honesty looked at JF and said "Daddy you need a big dose of happy!"

Healthy me, Healthy Life

Well last week I decided to eat healthy....I know my family was in shock too.  Jamie the one known by name at every fast food joint around has decided its time to eat healthy.  Prior to this my veggie intake consisted of corn and green beans.  Since then Ive eating peas, carrots, celery, hummus, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers!  Im learning that I actually like this stuff.....and in 7 days I've lost 6.8 pounds yehaw!!!!
